Snack Time…at least it is not nap time

Snack time should be required  to be provided to all employees in all jobs. Snack time really should be one of those rights, that everyone is granted. Much like how there is a minimum wage, there should be a minimum monthly time allowance for snacking. It is a long work day and we need more  nourishment than one lunch break can provide…plus, snacks are tasty. Hell, it’s not like we have a designated nap time, like some countries do.

Well, regardless if we ever get a federally appointed snack time, I still think it is important that EVERYONE be prepared to quickly whip up a solid snack. While energy bars can be pretty satisfying, and buying a pre-made parfait can fill your stomach’s void, I think it is critical that you can also create your own mini-meal.

Simple and tasty. This crazy food combo is one of those perfect snacks I will happily enjoy again.

Yesterday I was running late for work (nothing new), and struggled to throw together something to munch on in those long, gloomy hours between lunch and dinner. Scavenging through the fridge I came across some stuff that I realized might just work well together.

I then built what became a beautiful food combo that I highly recommend, and has been officially “Fed Up Approved” for tastiness. Plus, it is quick and easy to make for all you lazy people out there (myself included).

Tortilla + Cream Cheese + Pancake Syrup + Cinnamon + whatever the hell you want = DAMN GOOD SNACK

I simply filled a tortilla with cream cheese and syrup and cinnamon. I also stuffed mine with some chopped fruit. Wrapped it all up, topped it off with some more syrup and cinnamon and blasted it in the microwave when I was ready to eat. I was shocked at how good this was.

Ok, so this is defiantly more of a breakfast style bit of grub, but hey lets follow the lead set by those sleazy-diners across the nation and realize it is OK to eat breakfast any time. (The Fed Up team, has proven this theory before with this tasty dish).

So now go fourth. You no longer have an excuse for not being prepared for another long work day without some quality grub to chew on.

So…what are your go-to snacks? Vending machine options DON’T count, not even Honey Buns.

OH; And just to back up how kick ass this cream cheese wrap thing was…the cream cheese was 2 months out of date (those dates don’t matter, right?), the tortilla was stale (I forgot to seal the bag the last time I opened it), and the syrup was sugar free (because I am freaking healthy)…and this snack still tasted AMAZING, definitely better than any crap from a vending machine.

Oh how I love a good snack! Those roll-ups sound great. I do something similar with a tortilla, peanut butter, and honey (sometimes with banana slices). Yum!

Wow, PB and banana wrap…I think you got me beat.

Soooo, my mouth is watering. That sounds fantastic. I make PB roll-ups like Meghan but without the banana slices and I add some cinnamon instead. PB and an apple or celery (ants on a log with the raisins)…Larabars….sometimes Cheddar Bunnies…
I was eating lunch an hour ago and now I’m getting hungry again :p

haha. Ants on a log sound real good right now. It is funny how some of our child hood favorites are forgotten. You know what? I am craving some “cup-of-dirt” (chocolate pudding with Oreos) right now.

Don’t forget to add the gummi worms!

YES! I forgot about the worms…Fridays restaurants used to always serve them with the gummy worms!

I’ve taken ricotta cheese, added a little homemade vanilla sugar and extract, stirred and served with a cookie. Cheap deconstructed cheesecake 🙂

Hmmm ricotta cheese cheesecake. Sounds tasty! I have gotten a cup of plain Greek yogurt and added some cream cheese and sweetener to make my own instant cheese cake snack, but ricotta cheese sounds much better! I use ricotta for a lot of things (even on top of pizza).

Alternatively, I´ve done a tortilla wrap filled with cream cheese and blueberry jam…delish!

Blueberry jam in anything is good. I will have to try that next time I am out of fresh fruit.
