Happy Easter…but I am still hungry.

Happy Easter Everybody.

Just a quick rant…why does Easter food suck? Ok… to be honest it really is not that bad. It is just that when you compare Easter foods to the legendary stuff we get at the other holidays, then Easter seems to be kind of a let-down.

Do “Peeps” really stand a chance against a Thanksgiving turkey or a Christmas feast? The feeling of emptiness my soul and stomach gets this time of year due to the unfulfilled high expectations is just like the feeling I get on New Years(and throughout January).

"Peeps" have nothing when compared to a freshly cooked platter of roast Thanksgiving turkey. (And yes, this is only turkey breast, not a full bird. The Fed Up household always fights over the white meat, so last year it was just easier to forget the whole bird and only buy cutlets. Either way, it still is way better than those highly over processed marshmallow chickens served on Easter)

And why are rabbits handing out eggs anyway?

Crappy food, weird traditions…this holiday really is kind of a disappointment.

Next year we can start a new tradition that makes a little more sense and could be tastier:  Lets all roast a rabbit, eat scrambled eggs, and make smores out of all those chocolates and “Peeps” that are being passed around.

…and I think we should have work off the following Monday too.

Just my 2 cents.

I kind of dig Easter food. Honeybaked ham, those cheesy potatoes, and something sweet for dessert. Unfortunately we’re making pork shops and rice this year LOL.

Well, sounds better than what I am having for Easter:
I just had a giant bowl of banana pudding. Yep, that was my Easter brunch. And tonight…cottage cheese, broccoli, goat cheese, red onion pizza. Not very traditional, but its what I am craving tonight…and my stomach rarely leads me in the wrong direction.

I love Peeps, and I confess that Peeps smores are quite tasty 😉 I think you might need to have Easter at my mom’s – it’s one of my favorite food holidays. But then I think her potato salad is legendary, and I have made a meal of it on its own on more than one occasion.

You are lucky, My Mother’s “homemade-holiday-meals” are all picked up from prepared food section of Whole Foods. It still tastes good, but I am kind of deprived for quality home-cooked grub.

Peeps schmeeps! They are dreadful in so many ways.

Our Easter feast included ham, seven-layer salad, deviled eggs and blueberry cheesecake. I burned the rolls, but nobody seemed to mind.

WOW. I am jealous. All I had was some banana pudding. Seven layer salad…is that like a seven layer (mexican-style) dip? Sounds good.

Lettuce, carrots, celery, onion, frozen peas (because they look pretty), grated cheddar cheese and bacon (because bacon makes everything better!). You could use chopped tomatoes and/or peppers if they were in season. I don’t think there are any rules. Build the layers, pour some dressing over the top and let it sit overnight.

Sounds good and very appropriate for the season….but a seven layer salad(ala Mexican seven layer dip) is kind of what I am craving now. Layers of shredded lettuce, beans, cheese, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, diced jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro.

Don’t forget the avocado! I love that mexican dip too — but I go light on the jalapeno and heavy on the margarita accompaniment.

        HAha.

I go crazy with the jalapeno. The damn bush in my yard keeps on producing them and I can’t use them up fast enough. I am going to have to start adding the peppers to my cereal in the morning if I ever want to use them all up before they start rotting on the plant.

We had Rib Eye steaks but I used Peeps! as the centerpiece. 😉

Haha. as long as the Peeps weren’t eaten.
