It is crap like this that just pisses me off. It is like thinking a milkshake is a healthy snack because there is calcium from the milk…

Lust Local

Ok so I’m out of the loop and been really bad at blogging, but this caught my attention and I have to talk about it.  A california woman sued the makers of Nutella for what she says “making her believe” that Nutella was part of healthy breakfast.  First of all in this day and age when parents read all the labels and annoy the crap out of kids, did it not cross her mind to read the nutritional facts on the back?  I have a bottle at hand so that I can discuss.  Nutella per serving size of 2 tbsp.  has 200 calories, 100 of those being Fat Cal, 11 grams of fat, 3.5 g’s alone of saturated fat.  Sodium (this means salt)  11g….. that’s a crap load, carbs alone: 22 grams including 21g of sugar.  Protein 3g.  Ok so essentially the spread might not be the best for you seeing as…

Ha! Not to insultl a whole state – buy why, why, why does it always seem that there’s a Californian behind these lawsuits! Remember Oreos – and I know there’s been others. Read the label, people! But to put the fat/calories in perspecitve, Nutella is only about 20 calories more than peanut butter, and Hazelnus do have a lot of Omega 3 fatty acids. Besdes, it tastes good – I love it on crepes for dessert. I’ve had to hide the jar from the kids, though.

haha, it is true that so many lawsuits come out of CA.
I really am amazed that any court would even consider this case

I’m feeling your pain! It’s like the lady who sued McDonald’s over how hot her coffee was. Coffee is hot! Going in, you should know that. Or else you’re not old enough to be drinking coffee. Period.

Agreed, this lawsuit is completely ludicrous. I think the commercials were slightly misleading, but everything has to be in moderation. Did someone from Nutella put the bottle in the womans cart and force her to buy it? The woman should have read the nutrition label and seen the number of calories and amount of fat and made her own decision. Nobody that has tasted Nutella could possibly think it is some kind of health food.

Either our society has just become THAT dumb…or more likely someone just wants to make some quick cash…or someone just feels the need to blame another party for their own personal lack of good eating habits.

    No, you’re not.

Well… the current Nutella ad on TV plays out a woman copping out of giving her kids a nice warm breakfast (because she is so busy in life) by giving her kids nuttella on toast. She says that she is happy her children are starting out their day with a healthy breakfast. Just sayin’.

Good point, I know marketers can mislead us all like crazy. But I think the ultimate responsibility falls to each person to really know just what they are buying or eating by looking quickly ad the government required nutritional labels.

I won’t be blogging in the future – just looking for products to sue: How about tv dinners full of additives that claim to be healthy, or any of those healthy fitness bars. What about all the cereal that’s full of sugars, corn syrup, dyes and additvies. Maybe I’ll sue potatoes. Can I do that? I don’t live in a state where there are protective food laws saying I can’t disparage a certain vegetable or food.

Remember when Oprah got sued: “Though there has not been any outbreak of mad cow disease in the United States, a guest on Winfreys show, Howard Lyman, criticized the practice of feeding processed livestock to cattle, which has been linked to the outbreak in Europe. Winfrey responded that Lymans remarks just stopped me cold from eating another burger.”

“Lyman, who is also being sued by the cattle producers, also intimated that an outbreak of human form of mad cow disease could make AIDS look like the common cold.”

I’m gonna be rich, rich, rich…”runs off waving arms and screaming….”

Thanks! I think you just gave me some good fuel for a future post!

The fast food chains are really guilty of mislead customer, with their “healthy” options, like Mcdonald’s oatmeal…I bet it has more sugar and is worse for you than a kirspy cream donut . Alot of time even the healthy salads are drenched in dressing or filled with bacon and cheese…

You’re definitely not the only one. Nutella is no health food. If it looks like chocolate and tastes like chocolate……….

I think alot of people try to justify a eating something unhealthy by having some small part of the meal be “good-for-you”

I think that is just stupid. It is like thinking strawberry ice cream can be “healthy” because of the fruit content, or thinking French frys are a nutritious options due to the fact that potatoes are vegetables…
